A very special thing happened. The wonderful and amazing people at Kanile’a Ukulele sent me this beautiful ukulele to record my third album with. I’m completely overwhelmed - it’s absolutely stunning! Highly recommend you get over to their website - http://kanileaukulele.com - their instruments are exquisite! I’m trying to think of a song that I could play on it - something beautiful that will do it justice! I’ll try and record a video with it soon.

UKULELE GEEKERY: After much deliberation and to-ing and fro-ing between luthiers, it was decided that my Mandobird, with all of it’s intonation and tuning problems, was not fit for recording purposes. As cool as it looks, it wasn’t happy being a ukulele, and I suppose you get what you pay for - it was cheap.
So today this RISA ELECTRIC TENOR UKULELE arrived from Germany. The shape takes a bit of getting used to, but it plays and sounds like unicorns and rainbows and all good things. I may have to eat nothing but instant noodles from now on, but it’s worth it. Album #3 is going to be a dream!

First attempt at gluten/dairy/sugar-free Zucchini/Courgette Bread. Success! It’s tasty, and it’s on a fox plate.
(I’ve been experimenting with cutting out different foods to see if I can banish the gunk on my vocal chords.)
If anybody is curious, here’s the recipe…
ZUCCHINI BREAD
Blend:
3 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup Xylitol or Stevia
2 cups grated zucchini/courgette
2 teaspoons vanilla extract/ raw vanillaThen add:
2 cups Buckwheat flour
1 cup Coconut flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt60mins at 350°F/180°C

Went for a walk this morning and saw the wild ponies on the south downs. So sweet. But POO EVERYWHERE. The first one did a really long steamy wee directly after I took it’s picture.

MUCH EXCITEMENT My new solid-body uke. (Actually a modified/upgraded Epiphone Mandobird) Bit saucy. New Pickup from Almuse.

My view at present. Boxing Day. 22 degrees. Palm trees. Yes please!
Torturing everybody by making them wear those goofy paper hats from christmas crackers, making me feel at home.

Tonight’s Family label extravaganza was spectacular! And just when you think you can’t love a band any more than you already do, they ask you to perform onstage with them in one of the coolest venues in the city! Thank you Pearl and the Beard!! We performed our version of Katy Perry’s Firework, I hope somebody somewhere has photos/videos?! Although, there will always be the one we made earlier!… http://youtu.be/XOMWHPvNKxc
Many thanks to all the lovely people in the audience, and the well-wishers who came to say hello! Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! I’m now branded with family label - my new tat! You like?
P.S. No, it isn’t permanent. :P
